Job Title: Application Developer Intermediate Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Remote with Onsite Meetings as Required) Duration: 1 Year with 6 months Possible Extension Role Summary The Intermediate Application Developer delivers application programming, analysis, enhancements, and production support within the system development lifecycle. The resource will work closely with business units to ensure technical solutions align with ministry needs, resolve defects, build new features, and support ongoing modernization initiatives. Key Responsibilities Application Development & Support Develop, maintain, and enhance multi-user, n-tier, object-oriented, and web-based applications. Write high-quality, performant code and pass code reviews with minimal defects. Build and support application components, integrations, and database structures. Handle and resolve production issues efficiently, ensuring minimal service disruption. Conduct detailed technical impact analysis and ensure alignment with existing system architecture. Support legacy applications through the full lifecycle, including replatforming activities. DevOps & Release Management Automate build and deployment processes using Azure DevOps. Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable automated testing and deployment. Contribute to Application Lifecycle Planning and coordinate release schedules. Track work status, provide reporting, and maintain accurate documentation. Requirements & Stakeholder Collaboration Liaise with PSC business units and program areas to ensure solutions meet business and strategic ministry needs. Translate functional requirements into technical designs, workflows, and database schemas. Participate in production implementation planning and execution. Set up test data and ensure adequate unit test coverage for critical system features. Documentation & Governance Maintain technical documentation and update architectural artifacts as needed. Create, review, and maintain application documentation following GOA standards. Identify service requests, manage priorities, and ensure timely delivery. Scope of Services Application development, design, and implementation Corrective and preventive maintenance Database design and optimization Business & user requirements analysis Application enhancements and modernization Mandatory Requirements Minimum Experience 5+ years developing multi-user, n-tier, object-oriented, and web applications 5+ years maintaining and enhancing existing applications 5+ years working with Microsoft SQL Server 5+ years designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting applications 5+ years using Team Foundation Server (TFS) and/or Azure DevOps 3+ years experience working in a Government or similar structured environment Nice-to-Have Skills 4+ years developing/maintaining web applications (e.G., .NET, Angular, MVC) 3+ years working with jQuery / JavaScript 3+ years creating or troubleshooting SSIS packages 3+ years implementing CI/CD pipelines with automated testing 3+ years experience with Git/SVN version control tools
