JOB DESCRIPTION Veterinary Assistant Location: Lake Country, BCTri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre in Lake Country, BC, has recently expanded and is looking for a dedicated full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. We want great team players who enjoy a fast-paced environment and are passionate about making a REAL difference in the lives of our patients and clients.Shifts will range from daytime to evening and include overnight rotations, as well as shared weekend shifts. Opportunities for permanent overnights are always available, should a night owl with a preference for these shifts present themselves. Otherwise, the sharing of overnights via rotation helps to maintain a healthy work-life balance for ALLWhat you needPrevious veterinary experience is an assetExceptional client service skills that build trust and loyalty with clientsStrong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse teamCompassion and a nurturing attitude when providing care to clients and patientsAbility to remain calm and efficient in stressful situationsPositive outlook and enthusiasm for learningInitiative in carrying out assignments independentlyYour role will beAssisting Veterinarians and Technicians with client support and treatment of pet patients, including low-stress restraint techniquesProviding support to the Client Care service, occasionally covering shifts in reception when necessaryPreparing medications and supplies for clients to take home (per DVM and RVT instruction)Providing compassionate care to hospitalized patients, including feeding and walkingHandling and maintaining surgical equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilizationGeneral hospital care, including cleaning kennels, restocking treatment areas, and maintenance of outdoor areasCompensation:Starting at $ per hour, and up based on relevant experience.
