The program increases opportunities for local Black and Indigenous youth to gain meaningful experience and/or employment in the arts, while celebrating students’ cultures, enhancing cultural understanding, and enabling student success. It aligns with the following City of Brampton priorities:: talent development : contribute to a diverse and flourishing arts and culture ecology in BramptonAREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:Reporting to the Community Programming & Outreach Associate, as part of the Education and Outreach team, the successful candidate will collaborate and function in a leadership role with high school co-op students in this program specifically designed for Black & Indigenous youth.Responsibilities include delivering co-op program modules, supervising students, and supporting the Education and Outreach unit with administrative duties. The candidate will also have an opportunity to set their own learning goals and meet with Indigenous and Black performing artists and arts professionals to help achieve those goals.Participants will develop the following skills:Ideation, creative and critical thinkingTeamwork, collaboration, collective creationIndependent research, writing, communication including oral presentationLeadership, project management, facilitationSELECTION CRITERIA:This is a position for Indigenous and Black youth.
