Date Posted: December 4, 2025Position Title: Childminder, Community ProgramsLocation: John Tod Center Y (150 Wood St, Kamloops, BC V2B 0G6) Term: Casual/SubstituteHours: A minimum of 0-10 hours per weekShift: Open availabilityStart Date: As soon as possibleSalary: Starting at $18.90 per hourReports To: Supervisor; Child, Youth, and FamilyBenefits: Competitive vacation and paid sick time Free YMCA Gym Membership+ Y@HomeGenerous employer-matched pension planEligibility for Extended Medical and Dental BenefitsTraining and Professional Development OpportunitiesExtensive Employee assistance program Reduced childcare rates and priority placement for YMCA StaffBe part of a charitable organization that positively impacts the community*Some benefits may vary based on employment termsNature & ScopeThe Childminder, Community Programs report to the Supervisor, Child, Youth and Family and work collaboratively with other members of the YMCA team to provide a safe and fun environment for our child, youth, and family programming.Childminder staff will be responsible for the care, safety and well-being of multiple children of children aged 3 months to 8 years old while their caregivers take part in onsite YMCA BC programs.Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:Lead programs in a positive and professional manner.Build meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues.Develop lesson plans for various programs and administer progressive evaluations for participants.Ensure program design, layout, and offerings meet the needs of all participants at various levels.Lead program delivery, while ensuring contents meet the appropriate criteria and outline.Perform general administrative duties and record-keeping responsibilities.Maintain an atmosphere of achievement that inspires self and others to succeed at the highest levels.Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained.Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all program areas.Attend staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as required.Maintain regular attendance, punctuality and be appropriately dressed and well groomed.Qualification-you bring:First Aid Level 1 with C CPR.Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date. About YMCA BC:By igniting belonging and championing health equity, YMCA BC strengthens the foundations of community.
