Precast Design Engineer

Responsibilities Review all project documents including architectural, structural drawings and specificationsAttend job meetings, communicate with external consultants & architects to develop projectPrepare design calculations to meet codes, project specifications and summarize design to draftersMonitor the preparation of drawings and bill of materials, ensuring they are on scheduleCheck production and erection drawings meet the design and apply your Engineering sealWork with production and erection supervisors, as necessary to resolve issues Visit the plant and job sites as necessary to ensure design requirements are metTechnical RequirementsDesign work in a precast concrete manufacturing environment is an assetMust get involved with production to learn extensive precast product knowledge on the jobProficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and Structural Software, BIM & Tekla are an assetBachelor of Applied Science in Civil EngineeringA strong course background in Structural Design including Concrete, Steel and WeldingPreferably some course work in Prestressed Concrete DesignLicensed in Ontario or ability to become licensed within 2 yearsWorking knowledge of Ontario Building Code, CSA Codes (Bridges, Concrete, Precast, and Welding)Business Requirements:Attention to detail is criticalA valid Ontario driver’s license is an assetAbility to communicate well with other PreCon Departments, Architects, Engineers and ContractorsCultural Requirements:Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others and demonstrate strong interpersonal skillsAs a member of the OSCO Construction Group, PreCon offers a comprehensive compensation package including health and dental coverage, life insurance, RRSP and tax-free savings account options.
