About the roleWe're looking for an Underwriter I, Personal Lines to join our growing teamWhat you'll do here:Assess and evaluate insurance policy risksProcess, underwrite of new business, renewals, cancellations and endorsements to develop and retain profitable businessEnsure authorized limits are in accordance with established company guidelines, applicable laws and regulations as well as apply standard rates and premiums in underwriting quotesReview supporting claims reports and legal backgroundImplement and exercise learned techniques including qualifying a business opportunity, prepare for contact, contact internal/external business partners, develop proposals, promote proposals, gain commitment and close the agreementMay provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to Underwriting AssistantsMay provide training and information sessionsAnswering inquiries and making recommendations to brokers through verbal and written correspondenceDevelop and manage relationships with internal/external business partners.Write summaries regarding overall resultsWhat you bring to the table:Any combination of equivalent education and experienceNo previous experience requiredInsurance Professional (CIP) designation completed or in progressMust demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and critical thinkingMust be able to interpret policy wording and legal documentsExcellent sales and customer retention skillsProficient computer and keyboarding skillsExcellent verbal and written communication and relationship building abilitiesWilling to travel to broker's offices as required, in possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving recordDemonstrated efficiency and strong time-management skills to meet competing productivityNo Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.What we offer Our hybrid work model provides the balance between working from home and enjoying meaningful in-person interactions.Working here means you'll be empowered to be and do your best every day.
