Job Description
Apera AI is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Applied Scientist specialized in the field of Computer Vision to join our team and contribute to the development of our state-of-the-art technology. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the latest computer vision and machine learning techniques and have a proven track record of applying them to real-world problems.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team of engineers and scientists on cutting-edge technologies in the field of computer vision and machine learning, and to be a key member in building the future of robotic perception at Apera AI. If you are a highly motivated and skilled engineer with a passion for computer vision and machine learning, we encourage you to apply.
About You
Your specialization in Computer Vision is evident, and you have a genuine passion for the field. You are unsatisfied with simply adding superficial features to existing products, working on projects that will never be implemented, or publishing theoretical ideas without practical applications. Instead, you are seeking a position where your models will be utilized in real-world applications, such as controlling robots that operate continuously around the globe.
You possess a strong understanding of neural networks and the ability to write custom training loops, but also have the insight to avoid reinventing the wheel when appropriate. You are well-versed in utilizing inductive biases, invariances, and normalization strategies to optimize performance and generalization. You are proficient in Python and able to effectively script and automate tasks for experimentation and hyperparameter tuning.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and engineering of machine learning approaches to object detection, depth estimation, pose estimation, robot grasping, motion planning, online learning, domain generalization
- Prototyping and evaluating SOTA models against Apera AI’s benchmarks
- Innovating at the edge of published research, designing, training, and evaluating methods tailored to Apera AI’s specific requirements
- Professionally apply standard methods to standard problems
- Developing innovative techniques for generating data for training neural networks
- Translating promising research papers into practical solutions with industrial-grade reliability
- Work with MLOps, Customer Support, and Application Development teams to troubleshoot and tune performance, rolling generalized improvements into standard processes
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in computer vision, including expertise in image processing, object detection, stereo depth estimation, and 3D pose estimation techniques
- Strong understanding of state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms and deep learning techniques
- At least 3 years of experience in utilizing Machine Learning techniques for Computer Vision applications
- Strong programming skills in Python and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
- Knowledge of 3D mathematics and concepts such as transformations and projections
Apera AI offers a highly competitive compensation package as well as a career track that is filled with growth opportunities. As a fast-growing company, we are always looking for ways to expand and improve, and we want our employees to grow and develop with us. Additionally, we offer a generous employee stock option plan, which allows our team members to share in our success. Lastly, we pride ourselves on fostering a creative work environment where our team members can thrive alongside other ambitious and talented individuals.
We look forward to hearing from you
