What is the opportunity?

As the Lead Data Product Owner at RBC Insurance, you will play a pivotal role in the organization as we look to redefine processes across the business and transform employee and client experiences through Data & Artificial Intelligence. You will contribute to the development, design and refinement of a comprehensive and industry leading data & AI product strategy which enable differentiated employee and client experiences across all parts of the RBC Insurance value chain, ensuring alignment with our business goals and user needs. This highly skilled Product Lead is responsible for creating the product vision for reusable and scalable data and AI assets, creating product roadmaps, and for leading agile teams to develop and deliver exceptional data and AI products that simplify the way RBCI conducts business and improve operational efficiency across Claims, Underwriting, Sales & Distribution, Product, etc. You will also leverage both technical acumen in Data, traditional AI, generative AI and Product Management expertise to ensure material execution of our Data & AI product roadmap through strong collaboration with the business and technical leads.

What will you do?

  • Work with Stakeholders to define the business problem a Data or AI product will solve and the benefits of solving said problem
  • Define requirements and constraints (e.g Technology, Risk, etc.) that may impact the form and function of the product
  • Co-create a product strategy with a clear vision, opportunities and desired outcomes associated with the product
  • Translate the Product strategy into a client/employee focused roadmap to prioritize work and communicate with stakeholders
  • Lead discovery for data or AI use cases to determine desirability, feasibility, usability and viability in partnership with business stakeholders and technical leads
  • Collaborate and liaise with key business partners and stakeholders in the Digital and Data, Business, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, etc., to conduct discovery, develop business cases and OKRs.
  • Lead and optimize delivery of product roadmap / sprints
  • Create, maintain, prioritize and oversee product backlog and associated release roadmap(s) while articulating how features/functionality are intended to be implemented, alignment to OKRs and associated benefits/business growth (revenue, profitability targets, etc.)
  • Participate/assist with the decision-making that sets the architectural direction/chooses the agreed technology infrastructure that will host the new business functionality for products and product platforms
  • Collaborate with product delivery team, and other team members/stakeholders to identify and execute agile change management and adoption and integration activities

What will you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in financial services/Insurance sector with 5 years’ experience in leadership
  • Experience in Data Product Management and Delivery
  • CSPO certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong data knowledge and expertise, with understanding of trends and industry strategy for data product management
  • Understanding of Traditional AI and Generative AI, including general techniques/technologies and infrastructure requirements for enablement
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities
  • Demonstrated technical acumen in the Data and Analytics space
  • Experience leading an agile team and leveraging knowledge of User experience (UX)/ technical / functional domain experts
