Our client is looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial business leader to take their organization to the next level and accelerate growth by supporting the growth of the brokerages within their group and offering services to external brokerages, agents, and family offices dedicated to providing the best insurance options to clients. The successful candidate in this role is ultimately responsible to the policyholders of the mutual and will report to the board of directors (policyholder representatives) as part of the Executive Leadership Team.

This position is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The President/CEO will play a pivotal role in and be accountable for:

Growing the Business:

  • Driving revenue by collaborating with and servicing both internal and external brokerages, agents, and other professional organizations on executing business opportunities.
  • Onboarding new brokerages in terms of how to optimally access services.
  • Ensuring client and advisor satisfaction and capitalizing on this success to obtain quality referrals and additional business.
  • Encouraging a principles-driven culture that seeks opportunities to provide services/products to clients and business partners.

Managing and Continuously Improving the Effectiveness of Operation/Company and Solutions provided:

  • Building on existing robust processes to achieve further optimization and scalability.
  • Overseeing operations and continuously improving operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Supporting the strong current culture of foundational values and focus on high-level service provided by existing teams.
  • Ensuring exceptional and timely service to clients, advisors, and other organizations by empowering team members.
  • Managing and growing the talent base, empowering professional staff to improve capabilities and upselling potential.
  • Maintaining the “People First On Purpose” focus and direction.
  • Monitoring key performance metrics to ensure service quality and resources needed to meet and exceed established targets.
  • Continuously innovating and developing new services and capabilities to drive growth.
  • Conducting strategic reviews for each client to implement comprehensive service plans and foster customer satisfaction.
  • Maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to high-quality standards.
  • Heading up audits or related activities in a regulated environment.

Ensuring Mutual Satisfaction with Strategic Partners/Providers:

  • Managing senior-level relationships with insurance providers, financial institutions, and professional services organizations.
  • Preparing for meetings and reporting for the Board of Directors.
  • Preparing reports and information for the annual meeting of policyholders.
  • Identifying opportunities and solving issues with various partners/providers.
  • Leading discussions and projects on new ideas and service expansion.
  • Nurturing relationships with insurance carriers and financial institutions.
  • Collaborating with carriers to review and optimize solutions and products.
  • Identifying and cultivating new options for insurance products and financing support.
  • Coordinating with Managing General Agents (MGAs) to address market challenges and resolve carrier-related issues.

The ideal candidate for this executive-level role:

  • Possesses a proven record of accomplishment in working with and growing large teams of professionals, complemented by a successful history of profit and loss management.
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is eager to implement new ideas and continuously pursue improvement.
  • Can inspire and motivate teams effectively with exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Education and Experience include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • MBA (Master of Business Administration) or equivalent advanced degree is highly preferred, particularly with a focus on Finance, Risk Management, or Insurance.
  • Professional certifications such as FCIP (Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional), CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional), and CRM (Canadian Risk Management Designation) are strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued education through participation in industry-specific professional development courses.
  • Strong finance and business acumen – experience in running a business or P&C organization.
  • Ability to implement and manage the organization with relevant metrics.
  • Focus on developing and leveraging talent.
  • Prior experience in building and maintaining successful customer relationships.
  • Exceptional communication skills – ability to translate ideas into concrete messages and actions.
  • Demonstrated effective collaboration among various stakeholders.
