Job Overview

In Norfolk County, we are seeking a skilled Facilities Systems Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Norview Lodge. This is a permanent full-time position that requires strong technical expertise and excellent problem-solving skills.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and operating all maintenance and building systems, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This includes water treatment, heating, ventilation, electrical, carpentry, air conditioning systems, fire protection systems, and security systems.

The ideal candidate will have a Grade 12 graduation including a Facilities Systems Technician Certificate or equivalent, with up to three years of relevant experience in maintenance. They must also possess strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate all maintenance and building systems, including utilities and process systems
  • Provide water treatment services, including proper quality and quantities for low-pressure boilers and domestic water systems
  • Conduct environmental sampling, testing, and analysis, reporting results to the Supervisor, Facilities Services
  • Maintain a continuous check on all equipment and auxiliaries
  • Coordinate daily routine operations of the Facilities Services Department under the direction of the Supervisor, Facilities Services
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procedures in the Facilities Services Department
  • Operate motor vehicles for transporting parts, equipment, and supplies
  • Operate snow removal and landscaping equipment
  • Provide meeting/function set-ups and conduct flooring maintenance as required
  • Undertake duties of the Storekeeper in their absence, as needed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Grade 12 graduation including a Facilities Systems Technician Certificate or equivalent
  • Up to three years of relevant experience in maintenance
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A valid Ontario Class G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Computer expertise in corporate standard software (Microsoft Office) and department-specific software
Benefits

This is a permanent full-time position with a competitive salary range of $29.463 - $30.329 per hour ($1 less per hour for the probationary period).
