Clinical Pharmacy Specialist

As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with the Nova Scotia Health Authority, you will play a key role in ensuring safe and effective drug therapy for our patients. Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services, you will oversee drug distribution systems, supervise pharmacy support staff, and identify and resolve drug-related problems. Your expertise will be invaluable in providing clinical pharmacy services, including drug regimen review, medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and individual and group patient medication teaching. You will work closely with the medical team to provide discharge medication calendars and counseling to patients, and make therapeutic recommendations to enhance patient care. About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to join our team. To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or an entry-level Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP-accredited university. A completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program is preferred, and you must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the Province of Nova Scotia. You will also require BLS (Basic Life Support) certification and a minimum of two years of experience in clinical practice in a hospital pharmacy setting. Strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics, effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs are essential. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
HoursThis is a permanent, full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule.
Compensation and IncentivesThe successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $43.67 to $53.24, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
