Job Summary:

The Process Engineer will provide technical process support to the Molding Shop Floor, leading to process capability and reliability. This role involves identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) projects to achieve or exceed performance targets, improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and productivity while reducing cost and waste.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, test, and sign off on new equipment and processes on behalf of Molding.
  • Develop Molding procedures and Job Breakdown Sheets, implementing new procedures.
  • Own plant layout for existing and new equipment, identifying methods to improve current layout and eliminate waste.
  • Understand Molding/Operations objectives and seek to understand issues negatively impacting Molding and downstream customer performance, recommending or implementing corrective actions.
  • Act as Molding's primary contact and representative to Engineering regarding process-related projects or issues.
  • Provide leadership and drive improvement actions regarding equipment upgrades and purchases.
  • Build rapport and constructive relations with individuals at all levels in the organization, ensuring effective and clear communication to all stakeholders on issues and projects within your scope.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation, spare parts, and preventative maintenance programs are in place by project completion.
  • Provide feedback and drive improvement regarding technical processes on the shop floor, identifying improvement opportunities and participating in establishing performance metrics and the CI program for the Molding department.
  • Facilitate implementation of changes on the shop floor, working with shift supervisors and other shop floor team members as needed.
  • Sponsor, lead, facilitate, or participate in specific CI projects and establishment of Standard Work.
  • Responsible for training Team Members on cGMPs, Food Safety, and Quality procedures.
  • Proactively identify and suggest ways to eliminate hazards, correcting unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring health & safety policies are followed, and participating in Safety Investigations when required.
  • Manage Molding projects, including identification, justification, risk assessment, ROI, cost management, time management, scope management, and resource management, under general supervision of the Molding Manager.
  • Assist in design conceptual layout of plant & production automation projects and manage the project from conception to implementation.
  • Develop project cost estimates and project time lines.
  • Lead production equipment projects, including project analysis, planning, design, sourcing, ordering, and implementation.
  • Provide Safety training when required.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree or diploma in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of technical experience in a fast-paced, high-volume lean manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in injection molded/thermoformed plastics and/or food packaging industry preferred.
  • Good PC skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and applications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCad and Solidworks.
  • Strong mechanical ability and proven ability to root cause and determine permanent corrective actions.
  • General knowledge of In Mold Labeling (IML) and injection molding operations is highly desirable.
  • A bias for action and proven ability to deliver results.
