Job Summary

You will be working with our team at HITACHI ENERGY CANADA INC. as a GIS Technical Advisor. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for executing service work at customer sites, adhering to HITACHI ENERGY and legislative Health and Safety requirements. Your tasks will include maintaining project schedules and budgets while ensuring professionalism and courtesy throughout your work.

Responsibilities:
  • Building customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Making decisions on complex technical issues.
  • Providing expertise on installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment.
  • Making recommendations to customers regarding system and equipment performance.
  • Collaborating with sales, marketing, and engineering departments to provide field service expertise.
  • Handling post-commissioning warranty activities.
  • Performing field assignments to solve customers' operational problems and optimize equipment performance.
  • Working with customers to resolve field-related issues.
  • Reviewing and commenting on technical specifications, strategies, and problem resolutions.
  • Performing field activities, including testing, inspections, and site visits.
  • Following scheduling and administrative procedures.
  • Participating in technical training and presentations.
  • Preparing technical reports following site work.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Engineering or Technologist certification.
  • 7-10 years of service experience in power generation, protection, transmission, and distribution.
  • Hitachi Energy GIS installation certification, commissioning, and maintenance is required.
  • Problem-solving experience through research, peer networking, and Centre of Excellence networking.
  • Experience in field services, particularly with HV breakers, GIS commissioning, and repair.
  • Ability to formulate solutions to technical problems and prepare technical quotations and reports.
  • Ability to work unsupervised at customer sites, including emergency situations and scheduled service calls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers.
  • Safety-minded and proven safe work record.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment or autonomously as required.
