**Job Summary**

Fasken, a leading Canadian law firm, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent to join its collaborative team within the intellectual property group. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on stimulating challenges and contribute to the firm's excellence in patent law.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in Canada and abroad;
  • Prepare written opinions on the patentability of inventions and the validity or infringement of patents;
  • Participate in strategic processes associated with innovation, intellectual property, and due diligence in the field of intellectual property relating to commercial transactions;
  • Perform technical and legal analyses of patents and handle patent litigation cases.

Required Qualifications

  • Patent agent registered with the College of Patent Agents & Trademark Agents (CPATA) or at least four (4) years of experience in the field;
  • Undergraduate degree in pure or applied sciences, such as mechanical engineering, physics, or any other related field;
  • Graduate degree in science, such as a master's degree or a PhD, would be considered an asset;
  • Lawyer registered with the Barreau du Québec would also be considered an asset;
  • Fluency in both French and English, an important asset.
