Humber River Health: A Leader in Psychiatric Care
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit within the Mental Health and Addictions Program.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and treat mental health patients in the acute phase of illness.
- Implement the primary care nursing model effectively.
- Conduct mental status examinations and provide crisis intervention.
- Lead and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
- Counsel individuals and groups, providing supportive interventions and therapeutic activities.
- Nurses may be reassigned to other mental health units as per the Collective Agreement.
Requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- BCLS/CPR certification is mandatory.
- A BScN or degree in health sciences is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in mental health nursing is desired.
- Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing is required or willingness to obtain when eligible.
- Excellent assessment and risk management skills.
- Phlebotomy skills are an asset.
- Experience working with chronically mentally ill patients.
- Understanding of functional psychiatric illnesses, addictions, and treatments.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and RAI-MH assessment.
- Crisis intervention skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
