Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Sawmill Machine Operator to join our team at Swiftwood Forest Products. As a key member of our timber processing team, you will be responsible for operating automated lumbermill equipment to produce high-quality timber products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine logs and rough lumber to determine the best lumber cuts
  • Operate automated lumbermill equipment from control rooms or consoles
  • Saw, trim, and plane rough lumber into dressed lumber of various sizes
  • Start conveyor systems to move logs and lumber to and from saws
  • Monitor logs and lumber movement to ensure cuts are made according to specifications
  • Set up and adjust saw equipment
  • Replace blades or bands
  • Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment
Work Environment

As a Sawmill Machine Operator, you will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on safety and quality. You will be required to work at heights and in confined spaces, and will be exposed to loud noises and sawdust.

Requirements
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to lift 25 kg and stand for long periods
