Job Title: Head Chef and Kitchen Operations Manager

At Justin's Oven, we are seeking a highly skilled Head Chef and Kitchen Operations Manager to lead our kitchen team. This is a dynamic role that requires a strong focus on food preparation, quality control, and staff management.

About the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our kitchen, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision. You will work closely with our culinary team to create innovative and delicious dishes that exceed our customers' expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the size of food portions and costs to ensure profitability and quality.
  • Plan menus and estimate food requirements for their realization, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies, maintaining a well-stocked pantry and equipment room.
  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, ensuring accurate labeling and presentation.
  • Inspect kitchens and food service areas regularly to maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed, managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, analyzing data to inform menu changes and cost-saving initiatives.
Requirements
  • A Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required; relevant culinary certifications an asset.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a restaurant setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and technology, including point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg and stand for long periods, with regular breaks and physical activity.
