The Role
The Funding Officer is responsible for managing the loan lifecycle, from origination to disbursement. Key responsibilities include ensuring service standards are met for processing mortgage advances, maintaining accurate data records, and identifying credit and servicing risks. This position requires exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Review and verify loan documentation, including Commitment Letters, Investor Minutes of Approval, and Loan Summaries.
- Process loan advances and Letters of Credit, ensuring data records are accurately maintained.
- Coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure correct documentation and searches are in place prior to funding.
- Liaise with solicitors, originators, and external consultants to collect and verify loan documents.
- Conduct independent due diligence to determine alternative solutions in line with MCAP's risk appetite.
- Review loan terms, holdback releases, and requests for funds.
- Ensure all Investor approvals are in place and the mortgage security remains in place.
- Post financial and non-financial transactions on the loan administration management system.
Key Responsibilities
- Process loan payments, fees, and other financial transactions.
- Reconcile received closing proceeds with partial or final discharge statements.
- Advise Cash Management and Investor Relations of daily cash deposit transactions.
- Prepare and deliver deposit slips for daily cash receipts.
- Responsible for the preparation of daily Bank Wires & Cheques reconciliation.
Requirements
- Two years commercial banking experience.
- Previous legal background is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of commercial mortgages, funding procedures, and legal mortgage terms.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex information.
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and reasoning skills.
- Highly analytical with great attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong customer service skills with proven professionalism.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- English, Bilingual is an asset.
- University degree or College Diploma in Finance, Business, or Equivalent.
