Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Population Analyst to join our team at the BC Public Service Agency. This is an exciting opportunity to work on producing population estimates and projections for British Columbia and sub-provincial areas.

About the Role

As a Population Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering population statistics and demographic analyses to clients and the public. Your core responsibilities will include preparing population data products for publication and reviewing them for accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare population data products for publication and review them for accuracy
  • Assist with developing and maintaining population projection models programmed using analytical coding languages
  • Contribute to the production of population estimates and projections for British Columbia and sub-provincial areas

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in forecasting techniques, statistical modeling, and conducting statistical analysis
  • Experience with computer applications including spreadsheets (e.g., MS Excel), databases (e.g., MS Access, SQL Server), programming languages (e.g., R, Python), presentation (e.g., MS PowerPoint), and word-processing packages (e.g., MS Word)
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting information from diverse sources

Salary

The estimated annual salary for this position is $76,071 - $86,658 based on the location and industry standards.
