At Genoa Design International, we're seeking an experienced Senior AutoCAD Designer to join our North Vancouver office. As a key member of our team, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the success of our production design and 3D modeling services.

Your Role

As a Senior AutoCAD Designer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing 3D models for marine vessels and floating structures, as well as related systems and equipment.
  • Incorporating engineering changes into existing designs.
  • Providing comprehensive marine discipline expertise by supporting the development and reviewing technical designs.
  • Preparing and reviewing design and functional packages to ensure that functional design requirements are met.
  • Maintaining a high level of quality control for project work, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Meeting project deadlines, deliverables, and budget targets as directed by managers and leads.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and generating new ideas to drive growth and innovation.
  • Collaborating with clients to determine their needs and guiding projects from initial client meetings through design and production.
  • Leading and driving discipline design teams within specific areas of the marine vessel and supporting the development of small groups of designers.
What You Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you'll require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field, such as naval architecture or marine engineer systems design, or an equivalent combination of education and technical training.
  • 10+ years of experience in detailed design within the shipbuilding industry or a related sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Class requirements and international ship design standards.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Ship Constructor, AutoCAD software, document control systems, and database management.
  • Effective leadership and/or supervisory skills, with experience working in a shipyard or production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across various disciplines.
  • Proven capacity to work independently to develop solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Advanced technical writing skills, including the ability to produce and present clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.
