Job Summary

BCIT's School of Construction and Environment is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty who is an enthusiastic, team-oriented professional with expertise in structural engineering/timber engineering to strengthen BCIT's civil engineering program.

The successful candidate is expected to have the ability to teach the suite of courses related to structural engineering and timber engineering. The candidate is also expected to teach and/or assist in other civil engineering courses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach structural engineering and timber engineering courses
  • Teach and/or assist in other civil engineering courses
  • Participate in continuous program improvement and administration

Qualifications

  • Current Professional Engineer registration in Canada or the U.S.A.
  • Graduate degree in structural engineering or civil engineering
  • Minimum four years of applicable design or construction experience related to civil engineering in North America
  • Industry experience and knowledge in timber engineering, construction management, and/or geotechnical engineering
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering projects
  • Working knowledge of relevant and current civil engineering design software
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience in training, developing or mentoring technologists or junior engineers
