Maintenance Strategist

Job Overview

As a key member of our team at Paper Excellence, we are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our operations. This critical role plays a vital part in the success of our mill, ensuring that our production line runs efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Foster a culture of safety and compliance within the maintenance team, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols
2. Oversee the daily operations of the Maintenance Department, focusing on productivity, policies, and standards
3. Provide guidance and support to the maintenance team, including superintendents and supervisors, through mentoring and coaching
4. Collaborate with other departmental managers to address maintenance needs and resolve issues in a timely manner
5. Drive preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability
6. Manage the maintenance budget, setting priorities and allocating resources effectively
7. Coordinate with external inspectors, providing project management and ensuring personnel safety
8. Work closely with HR on recruitment activities, participating in interviews and hiring decisions

Qualifications:

1. University degree in Engineering, plus five years of experience in mill engineering, planning, or maintenance; or, high school graduation with trades qualifications and five years of experience as a tradesperson in the pulp industry
2. Five years of supervisory experience, with a proven ability to provide leadership and direction
3. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
4. Strong understanding of mill operating maintenance procedures and trades

Benefits and Compensation:

1. Salary range $120,000-$150,000 per annum, commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity
