Manufacturing Process Specialist

Job OverviewA successful candidate will have a strong background in plastics engineering and experience working with injection molding processes. The role involves collaborating with the engineering team, internal & external product designers, and tool shops to develop efficient production processes that meet quality standards.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing procedures, troubleshooting, and resolving barriers to production schedules while maintaining a focus on quality improvement through excellence, cost efficiency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in new program launches with the engineering, quality, and production departments
- Coordinate internal process team meetings and lead process improvements initiatives to resolve ongoing quality issues
- Provide training to process setup technicians on automation, process optimization, and robotics
- Evaluate job performance of setup technicians, material handlers, and maintenance technicians
- Coordinate mold trials with the engineering, quality, scheduling, and production teams
- Implement and track procedures involved with process control according to the quality manual
- Dial in machine pyrometers to produce high-quality parts
- Participate in selecting new equipment to improve plant efficiency
- Regularly review developed processes to ensure they meet or exceed quality and changing volume requirements
- Maintain accurate inventory of individual tools and quality approval status
- Coordinate sample manufacture for testing as requested through Product Engineering
- Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of injection molding equipment
- Actively participate in the Product Development Team, providing technical input for team deliverables
- Develop automation programs for equipment with integrated robotics and other processes
- Prepare for launch and projects based on technology and resource requirements and specifications
- Support Manufacturing with technical expertise, IATF 16949: 2016, and Stage-Gate activities
- Electronics Engineering Technician, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years plastic manufacturing experience
- Strong plastics background, including educational trainings, an asset
- Good problem-solving skills, particularly with 8D, ATS, DOE, 3-Panel Charts, Time Study
- Experience in using and interpreting SPC tools and techniques, including X bar and R charts, Pareto analysis, process flow charts, control charts, and capability concepts
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office, robotic programming, electronics
