About the Role

Mammoet is seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team, reporting directly to the Global Head of Legal. This role is integral to our organization, providing expert legal advice on a range of issues and ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide expert legal support to management on all company-related matters, including contract review and negotiation.
  2. Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulations and laws.
  3. Manage litigation and negotiate settlements, utilizing strong business acumen and exceptional negotiation skills.
  4. Prepare and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, policies, and procedures.
  5. Provide proactive advice to Human Resources on rights and obligations in labour and employment matters.
  6. Develop legal strategies to protect the company's rights and maintain its operations within the law.
  7. Monitor and advise on laws and regulations affecting the company, conducting thorough research and analysis.
  8. Contribute to internal process improvement and the development and delivery of training, ensuring effective knowledge sharing and implementation.

Requirements for Success

  1. Positive attitude, adaptable, and a collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  2. Comprehensive understanding of applicable law, including corporate law, commercial law, labour/employment law, and industry-specific regulations.
  3. Extensive experience in the effective management of external counsel and contract negotiation.
  4. Excellent legal research skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and provide actionable recommendations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to exercise good business judgment and provide sound legal analysis.
  6. Practical problem solver who is self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and a detail-oriented approach.
  7. Experience in dealing with regulatory bodies and government officials is an asset.
  8. Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Licensed to practice law in any Canadian Province.
  2. Minimum of 5 years relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house at a sophisticated organization.
  3. Law degree from an accredited law school.
  4. Strong knowledge of relevant law and legal procedures.
  5. Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  6. Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and meet deadlines.
  7. High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas.

About Our Region

This will be a full-time position operating out of our Edmonton, AB location, offering competitive wages and benefits.

Compensation Package

The salary for this position will be approximately $140,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with education and experience. In addition to this, Mammoet offers competitive wages, health benefits, and RRSP contributions.
