Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Heavy Goods Driver to join our team at ONTARIO INC. The successful candidate will have a strong background in driving heavy goods vehicles and excellent customer service skills.

About the Role
  • Drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials across Ontario, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Load and unload goods efficiently, prioritizing safety and security.
  • Operate two-person teams or convoys as required, communicating effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
Responsibilities
  1. Mountain driving expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in navigating challenging terrain while adhering to safety protocols.
  2. Professionalism in customer service: Provide exceptional service to clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeding expectations whenever possible.
  3. Aarrange travel, related itineraries, and make reservations for trips as necessary.
  4. Perform emergency roadside repairs and regular preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  5. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption accurately.
  6. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo: Protect valuable assets during transit, using proper techniques and equipment.
  7. Transport and handle dangerous goods: Follow strict guidelines for transporting hazardous materials, ensuring public safety and compliance with regulations.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate: Possess a recognized high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year: Have relevant experience driving heavy goods vehicles, preferably in a similar role.
  • Hours: 35 hours per week: Be available to work a standard 35-hour workweek, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is between $45,000 and $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
