Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled WHMIS Coordinator to join our team at the University of Regina. As a key member of our Health and Safety department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe management of hazardous materials and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective WHMIS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Provide education and training to staff and students on WHMIS and chemical safety.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of hazardous materials inventory and usage.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for chemical storage, handling, and disposal.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize hazards.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff and students on WHMIS and chemical safety.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and National Fire Code of Canada.
  • Current certification in WHMIS 2015 and Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, students, and stakeholders.
