Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Case Worker to join our team at Island Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to individuals with mental health and substance use issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and develop treatment plans for clients with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to promote recovery and well-being.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans to mitigate harm.
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families on mental health and substance use issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in the field.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Recognized post-basic education related to mental illness and/or alcohol and drug addiction.
  • Up to two years of recent related experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.

  • Judgment, observation, and client assessment skills.
  • Tact and empathy in working with addiction clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Promote positive change and independence.
  • Prioritize and organize workload.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer with a variety of Windows-based software.
