Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Engineering & Construction Services (ECS) Division at the City of Toronto. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical expertise and project management skills to plan, design, and construct complex bridge infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple engineering projects, including ongoing and annual City-wide engineering programs, special projects, and new initiatives.
  • Direct multi-disciplinary project team staff, mentor engineers and technical personnel, and assist in preparing budgets.
  • Perform site inspections, ensure compliance, and implement quality control/quality assurance.
  • Conduct research into assigned areas and provide specialized design services and technical advice to support various units.
  • Represent the Division at meetings with stakeholders and establish and maintain linkages to ensure effective partnerships.
Requirements
  • Completion of post-secondary education degree or diploma in civil and/or structural engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience in civil and structural engineering principles, materials, methods of construction, and good knowledge of roadway design.
  • Extensive project management experience from inception to implementation, including planning, design, and construction of public works infrastructure.
  • Considerable experience in developing reports, RFPs/proposals, and presentations.
  • Considerable experience in client management and communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or licensing as a professional engineer in good standing in another Canadian engineering association.
