Job Title: Electrical Project Coordinator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Project Coordinator to join our team at Smith + Andersen in Toronto.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a senior leader, responsible for overseeing electrical projects from start to finish. As a key member of our team, you will be expected to manage multiple tasks, ensure timely project delivery, and maintain excellent communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a complex environment. You will have experience working on major projects, coordinating with other consultants and contractors, and ensuring compliance with provincial building codes and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Manage existing installations, interpret impact on projects, and coordinate with internal and external teams.
  • Fully understand relevant Codes and Standards, communicate requirements to stakeholders, and enforce company standards.
  • Capture, review, and coordinate documentation with project teams, including architects, interior designers, and other disciplines.
  • Understand project procurement methodologies, recommend or apply suitable methods, and oversee reviews of deliverables for completeness and accuracy.
  • Promote company standards relating to project administration, documentation, and processes such as total quality management.
  • Act as contract administrator for designated projects, ensuring timely completion of contract administration activities.
  • Coordinate shop drawing reviews, set up contract administration processes, and site activities with the contract administration team.
  • Prepare change notices, respond to technical and financial queries related to the project, and advise the Principal-in-charge or Associate Principal on changes in scope of work.
  • Support accounts receivable processes and ensure coordination between project teams.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of project engineering experience in electrical building services.
  • Senior certification (e.g., C.D.).
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to work independently.
  • Experience working in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Knowledgeable about provincial building codes, electrical codes, CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES, and NFPA standards.
What We Offer
