About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Operations Manager to join our team at Transdev Ontario Manitoba. As a key member of our Student Transportation division, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our transportation services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations Management
    • Manage the efficient utilization of vehicles, minimizing deadhead and ensuring compliance with contracts.
    • Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation services.
    • Plan, organize, and manage the work of staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
    • Implement schedule and policy changes to improve operational effectiveness and quality.
  • Customer Service
    • Act as the main point of contact for daily operations, ensuring effective communication with customers and stakeholders.
    • Oversee the quoting of new business and ensure compliance with contracts.
    • Manage the STS portal, ensuring the accuracy and validity of data within the dispatch system.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for schools and charters.
    • Oversee and report on customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Drivers and Staff Management
    • Ensure the division maintains proper levels of employees, working with the Talent Acquisition team to attract new candidates.
    • Manage deficiency lists and facilitate safety meetings.
    • Help plan and facilitate bi-annual driver's meetings.
  • Finance and Administration
    • Monitor spending and oversee divisional budget to ensure all expenses are consistent and in-line with approved budgets.
    • Oversee payroll administration.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • University or post-secondary degree or equivalent.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory/management role in an operations environment.
    • Experience in Student Transportation, Medical Transport, or Transportation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
    • Proven financial acumen.
    • Ability to travel within Ontario.
