About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pathology Assistant to join our Histology team at Dynacare. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical and scientific results in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform gross examinations of surgical specimens, select, dissect, and prepare tissue sections for further processing and examination.
  • Embed tissue in tissue blocks and provide accurate and efficient gross descriptions and documentation.
  • Review clinical history and use positive patient identification to ensure accurate requisitions and worksheets.
  • Set up and operate laboratory equipment and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and maintain knowledge of current policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Sciences program or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Science in Biology or equivalent education directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Proven excellence working in a team environment, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and professionalism.
  • CAP certification is beneficial.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to prioritize specimens for processing.
Working Conditions
  • Medical laboratory environment with high visual requirements and ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Exposure to biohazard materials and noise, with possible exposure to chemicals, solvents, and radioactive materials.
