Director, Sustainable Investing and Governance

The Director, Sustainable Investing and Governance will play a key role in shaping the investment strategy of Ontario Teachers' and driving the implementation of sustainable investing practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement sustainable investing strategies that align with the organization's values and goals.
- Collaborate with the Sustainable Investing Team to identify and assess material ESG factors and develop recommendations for portfolio managers.
- Oversee the development and implementation of corporate governance and stewardship policies and proxy voting guidelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior industry and investment peers, representing Ontario Teachers' on external committees and initiatives.
- Lead the Corporate Governance & Stewardship Team, overseeing talent development and management, succession planning, and coaching and mentorship.
- Support the development of the Corporate Engagement Plan and collaborate with the Sustainable Investing and Equities teams.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate governance and stewardship, including company engagement, proxy voting, and policy development and implementation.
- Deep knowledge of global corporate governance and stewardship practices, with good judgment in identifying and applying leading practices.
- A track record of building long-term stakeholder relationships and addressing sustainability challenges in public markets.
- Superior communication and influencing capabilities, with an ability to convey complex decision-critical information to varied audiences.
- An inquiring yet pragmatic problem solver who can identify new ideas and solutions and translate them into practice.
- Able to manage challenging situations with sensitivity and humility.
- A thoughtful relationship-builder who can balance productive working relationships with objective risk oversight.
