The role of Real Estate Investment Strategist is a key position within Société Financière Manuvie's global wealth and asset management segment.

Overview:

This individual will be responsible for developing and executing asset-level strategies to maximize value across the organization's portfolio.

Reporting to the Head of Real Estate Asset Management, the successful candidate will have primary focus on the Central and Eastern Canada market, with a mix of office, industrial, and multi-family properties.

Responsibilities:
  1. Strategy Development: Develop and execute asset-level strategies to optimize performance and drive results.
  2. Market Research: Maintain strong relationships within the real estate industry to source and analyze market research, identifying trends and opportunities.
  3. Competitive Analysis: Identify and communicate each asset's competitive position relative to its peer set, developing strategies to outperform competitors.
  4. Value-Add Initiatives: Identify and lead the execution of value-add initiatives, including renovations, repositioning, and select ground-up developments.
  5. Pre-Acquisition and Disposition: Provide input and assistance in due diligence processes, including thorough research on select properties/markets and review of financial and operational assumptions.
  6. Asset-Level Performance: Regularly communicate market-level insights and contribute to regular asset management reports for Portfolio Managers and Senior Management.

Key deliverables include executing asset-level business plans, maximizing Net Operating Income (NOI), and overseeing asset-level financial performance.

Requirements:
  1. CFA designation, MBA, and/or graduate degree in finance/real estate preferred. Completion of real estate-related designations desirable.
  2. Minimum 12-15 years of asset-level experience, preferably working for a third-party fund management company.
  3. Strong leadership and team member training capabilities.
  4. Knowledge of institutional real estate investment management, capital markets, and portfolio analysis.
  5. Strong analytical skills, risk assessment skills, and ability to compile and audit various financial reports.
  6. Ability to develop investment strategies and provide recommendations.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  8. Ability to juggle competing priorities and work under pressure.

The estimated salary range for this position is $$175,000-$220,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
