Estimator Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our team at Arnett & Burgess Energy Services. As a Junior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and accurate implementation of our Bid Tender Process.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in evaluating bid specifications and drawings to develop successful bid tenders and strategies for pipeline construction projects.
- Support A&B Management through the bid tender phase by reviewing drawings, identifying areas of concern, and determining equipment and labor requirements.
- Prepare cost summaries, contact vendors and stakeholders, and ensure bids are submitted accurately and on time.
- Implement successful bid strategies by establishing and documenting consistent project estimating guidelines, standards, and structure.
- Prepare complex pipeline construction estimates and participate in pre-bid meetings, including field office, client, and site visits as required.
- Assist with the administration of bid pre-qualifications and identify the scope of work based on bid specifications and drawings.
- Communicate consistently with project leads to identify resource requirements and potential issues and solutions.
- Meet multiple deadlines and ensure tenders are submitted on time.
- Reside in or be willing to relocate to the Blackfalds, Alberta area.
- New or recent graduate of an accredited Canadian Engineering program.
- Registered as an engineer-in-training with applicable governing body (APEGA or equivalent).
- 1-2 years of experience in the below ground utility (pipeline) industry is considered an asset.
- Skills and knowledge understanding of the oil and gas pipeline construction industry is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand relevant construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience estimating small to large-sized pipeline construction projects is considered an asset.
- A team player with excellent attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and excellent oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, scheduling software, and Outlook.
