The City of Thunder Bay is seeking a highly skilled Forestry Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our forestry department, you will be responsible for planning and directing forest surveys and related studies, preparing reports and recommendations, and conducting advanced research in areas such as tree improvement, nursery seedling production, and forest ecology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and direct forest surveys and related studies
  • Prepare reports and recommendations
  • Conduct advanced research in areas such as tree improvement, nursery seedling production, and forest ecology
  • Ensure adherence to government regulations and company objectives
  • Establish short- and long-term plans for management of forest lands and forest resources
  • Staff recruitment and selection
  • Assist in budget preparation
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in forestry or a related field
  • 5 years or more of experience in urban forestry
  • Registered Professional Forester (RPF) certification
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
