The Role: Side x Side Wilderness Guide

As a Side x Side Wilderness Guide with The Adventure Group (TAG), you'll play a vital role in delivering unforgettable adventures for our guests. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure a safe, fun, and spectacular experience for all participants, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Start each shift by checking in with dispatch for daily information, ensuring uniform and equipment readiness.
  • Thoroughly prepare for tours, inspecting all equipment, including avalanche/fire gear and helmets.
  • Welcome guests warmly at Cougar Mountain, setting a positive tone for a fun and safe tour, and providing necessary information.
  • Ensure every guest has everything needed for the tour - adequate clothing and awareness of any signs of weather-related issues or risks.
  • Follow established safety, radio, and operating protocols.
  • Escalate issues, concerns, or problems to the supervisor or dispatch in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize site cleanliness and assist guests and staff as needed.
  • Regularly check staff communication channels for updates and information.
  • Contribute to TAG's dynamic team by assisting other team members and departments as required.


Requirements:

  • Prior experience working in customer service is essential.
  • Previous experience working in outdoor activities and/or adventure tourism is an asset.
  • Maintain valid first-aid certification, such as Occupational First Aid – level III; Outdoor Emergency Care – level III, or Wilderness First-Aid.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Be physically fit: able to lift up to 30lbs, be outdoors, and on feet for most of the day.
  • A positive, supportive, and respectful attitude towards both guests and team members.
  • Flexibility and adaptability - every day is different; every tour is unique.
  • Flexible working hours - early mornings, evenings, and weekends may be required.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly.


Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive hourly wage of $21+, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
