Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer

Equinox Engineering Ltd. is a leading EPCM firm in Calgary, specializing in oil and gas processing. We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the mechanical team on projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery of mechanical deliverables.
  • Check and approve mechanical engineer deliverables, ensuring compliance with specifications and codes.
  • Monitor project schedule and budget for all mechanical deliverables, interfacing with other engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated design.
  • Specify, evaluate, and select oil and gas processing equipment, including pipelines, pressure piping, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Provide comprehensive design services, supporting the establishment of design criteria and preparation of specifications, design computations, drawings, models, and bills of material.
  • Prepare engineering scope of work packages and work with vendors to supply mechanical equipment, ensuring design accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Interface with clients, project teams, and vendors to define project scope, resolve technical issues, and assist with procurement documents.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of all major equipment, adhering to all codes and specifications.
Requirements:
  • 7-15 years of EPCM experience in oil and gas projects, with a lead role.
  • Proficient in ASME Sec. VIII code for pressure vessel design, CSA Z662 code for pipeline, ASME B31.3 code for piping, TEMA for heat exchangers, and API for pumps and compressors.
  • Experience with NACE standards and its application.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with supervisory skills in a lead position.
  • Package engineering experience is a must-have.
Education and Qualifications:
  • APEGA P. Eng. – Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Minimum 7 – 15 years of oil and gas experience, with EPCM background preferred.
  • Equipment package engineering is a must-have.
  • Excellent working knowledge of static and rotating equipment design.
  • Familiarity with ABSA and AER requirements.
  • Applicable knowledge with codes (CSA, ASME, API).
