The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) is a leading not-for-profit organization in Canada's nuclear industry. We are seeking an experienced Communications Specialist to join our team in Toronto.

This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary of $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and a pension plan.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled professional who can develop, implement, and manage internal communications strategies that support our organizational goals. The successful candidate will have excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, as well as experience in graphic design and printing processes.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing internal communications plans and strategies
  • Managing the production of internal communication materials, including content development, design, and distribution
  • Coordinating spokesperson responses to employees and managing visibility initiatives
  • Supporting community and engagement events, and managing intranet content
  • Providing effective employee communications programs, advice, and strategies to management
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A 4-year university education in communications, public relations, or journalism
  • Demonstrated communications and public relations experience in a high-profile environment
  • Excellent knowledge of communications principles and techniques
  • Strong relationship management skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in the procurement process to review and evaluate proposals
