Commercial Mortgage Underwriter, Financial Risk Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic commercial team at EQ Bank | Equitable Bank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting CMHC-insured and conventional commercial mortgages, ensuring compliance with established policies and underwriting standards.
About the Role- Underwrite commercial credit facilities, including analyzing and evaluating loan applications, assessing risk, and making recommendations for approval;
- Develop and maintain relationships with external contacts, such as origination partners, and internal stakeholders, including funders, managers, and administrators;
- Manage time-sensitive deal flow to meet prescribed deadlines and deliver superior customer service;
- Prepare and submit reports and administrative duties required for the department and company;
- Bilingualism is an asset;
- Proficient underwriting skills, preferably with a minimum 2 years' commercial mortgage experience or SFR underwriting experience;
- Demonstrated service excellence within their field;
- Post-secondary education (diploma/degree) preferred, preferably in business or finance;
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, primarily Word and Excel;
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Strong business sense combined with sound technical knowledge of secured lending and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market;
- Established organizational skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities;
- Good time management skills and excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
- Ability and desire to attend industry-related events as required;
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a discretionary bonus and a market-leading RRSP match program.
