About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Crime Prevention Specialist to join our Toronto-based team. As an integral member of our Compliance department, you will report directly to the Director of Compliance and play a vital role in supporting our continued growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive compliance support and expertise to all departments, ensuring seamless integration with our business operations.
- Develop and maintain deep knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations and obligations, providing guidance and advice to internal and external partners as needed.
- Maintain vigilant monitoring for fraud, anti-money laundering, and responsible gambling issues, identifying potential threats and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and document Compliance department policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Analyze data to identify gaps and opportunities for enhancement of our AML program, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Lead comprehensive reporting, including daily, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and yearly reports, as well as remedial plans to address incidents of non-compliance.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and perform AML investigations, including customer identification, due diligence, and enhanced due diligence.
- Analyze data to detect patterns, trends, and unusual activity, ensuring timely completion of investigations and submission of Suspicious Transaction Reports to FINTRAC within regulatory timeframes.
- Support the Director of Compliance in maintaining our enterprise-wide patron monitoring program, including patron reviews and risk rating.
- Utilize social media and open-source platforms to gather information and analyze data, adhering to current legal requirements and industry best practices.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop ongoing monitoring criteria for detecting unusual activity.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.
- 3+ years of compliance/legal/fraud/risk mitigation/investigations experience.
- In-depth knowledge of sports betting, online casinos, and the AGCO's Registrar's Standards.
- Understanding of money laundering techniques and their application in the iGaming industry.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-directed learning capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
