Conservation Scientist Opportunity
The University of Northern British Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management at the rank of Assistant Professor, with a focus on Conservation Science. UNBC's Department of Ecosystem Science and Management offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Biology, Conservation Science & Practice, Forest Ecology & Management, Wildlife & Fisheries, and Nature-Based Tourism Management. Faculty supervise graduate students and contribute to teaching within the department. The department is well-equipped with modern research facilities, field research stations, and research forests.
We seek candidates who will develop a vigorous, externally funded, long-term research program in Conservation Science. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty from across the university, national and international colleagues, conservation groups, First Nations, government, and industry.
This position is part of a new degree in Conservation Science and Practice, with majors in Landscape Conservation and Management and Wildland Conservation and Recreation. Conservation Science addresses the policy, planning, and practice of conserving biological diversity. The successful candidate will contribute research and teaching expertise that use novel methods and tackle the challenges of conservation at broad scales.
Applicants should normally hold a PhD directly relevant to Conservation Science, which includes Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Physical Geography, among others. The successful candidate will have a growing record of scholarly activity, as well as present evidence of and commitment to teaching excellence.
