Job Description
As a Postmaster with Canada Post, you will play a vital role in promoting and selling postal products and services to the public and businesses in your community. You will be responsible for:
- Liaising with the local community to promote Canada Post services and products;
- Selling and promoting postal products and services to the public and businesses;
- Providing suitable premises for the post office in a central location within the community;
- Administering the post office to meet retail hours of operation and delivery expectations;
- Managing postal revenue, assets, and values;
- Maintaining records and preparing reports;
- Assisting with effective management of mail delivery routes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or provincial equivalency and/or experience in business administration;
- Owned or leased premises (suitable, central, and barrier-free) available one month prior to the date of hire;
- Experience interacting with the public in a retail and/or service environment, including sales and cash transactions;
- Knowledge of regulations, methods, and procedures for processing mail and providing postal services;
- Physically fit to lift mail containers of up to 50 lb, push or pull boxes, and sorting mail and standing for extended periods of time.
Benefits
- A leasing allowance of $2,578 per year to help offset the costs of operating a post office;
- An annual supplemental allowance to help offset the costs associated with providing the premises;
- A competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $120,000 per year.
Other Information
- This position may be considered a safety-sensitive position and has additional requirements under Canada Post's Substance Use Policy;
- The ideal candidate should reside in the community and applicants within a 50 km radius of the post office may be considered as needed;
- As part of the selection process, selected candidates will be required to complete a security screening process.
