Job Title: Educational Developer - Indigenous Initiatives

Capilano University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Educational Developer - Indigenous Initiatives to join our team in the Centre for Teaching Excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to work with faculty to develop and implement Indigenous-focused curriculum and teaching practices that promote excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult and advise faculty on Indigenous curriculum development, incorporating evidence-informed best practices for student learning.
  • Support faculty in effective and innovative teaching practices through individual and group consultations, resource creation, and workshop delivery.
  • Develop and deliver cultural workshops in collaboration with Indigenous Faculty Advisors and the Centre for Teaching Excellence.
  • Liaise with university staff and faculty to establish culturally appropriate practices, policies, and systems.
  • Support the work of the Aboriginal Student Success Plan and Chen Chen Stway.
Requirements:
  • A Master's degree in Education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, scholarship, and community engagement.
  • Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report and the UNDRIP, with the ability to incorporate related issues into activities and university initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience facilitating in a sensitive and cross-cultural learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to move forward and facilitate a project or initiative, with knowledge and understanding of Indigenous administrative structures and processes.
