Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary, estimated at $95,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience.

 

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring existing and proposed regulatory conditions and policies in other jurisdictions, performing critical analyses on potential impacts and drafting reports for submission to government
  • Assisting with managing the processing of smaller applications filed by regulated entities and supporting the development and implementation of operational policies related to electricity and natural gas applications
  • Preparing draft components of decision documents and orders, within established timeframes
  • Attending project meetings and collaborating with team members as needed
  • Receiving, reviewing, and analyzing applications, identifying gaps and substantiating data requirements, preparing information requests, assessing needs, preferred and alternative solutions, and public interest
  • Developing and maintaining currency with existing and evolving North American standards for the safety and reliability of natural gas and electric systems, monitoring ongoing safety and reliability testing plans and results, and investigating incidents, supported by consultant technical experts as required

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Law, Electrical Engineering, or Business, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a related field, preferably in the energy sector or with utilities
  • Expertise in analyzing large amounts of data and converting analysis into quantitative and qualitative information to aid in decision-making
  • Experience working in progressively responsible roles providing analysis and project management expertise
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and/or financial analysis and/or statistics
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation/facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the principles for the regulation of energy utilities is considered an asset
  • General knowledge of policy matters such as regulatory hearings and procedural fairness
