Rutherford Contracting Ltd. is a leading construction company specializing in the delivery of high-quality ICI buildings, site development projects, facilities management services, and construction management.

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Director to join our team in our Construction Management Division. As a Project Director, you will be responsible for contributing to the construction of projects through the provision of effective management which includes planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the administration of all aspects of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project start-up meetings with owners, consultants, and senior management team members.
  • Prepare project budgets using our in-house ESP based costing system while adhering to RCL budgeting policies and procedures.
  • Negotiate and award contracts with subcontractors and materials suppliers.
  • Continually monitor and manage the financial health and performance of each project using the organization's ESP based costing system.
  • Provide monthly financial reports to the financial controller and senior management team.
  • Provide value to clients by providing expertise on cost and constructability.
  • Regularly visit project sites to ensure that projects are progressing on schedule and are compliant with contract drawings and specifications.
  • Develop contingency plans for any unforeseen changes or problems that arise during construction.
  • Manage project issues including health and safety challenges and conflict management between own forces, sub-trades, etc.
  • Effectively communicate with all parties involved in the project including owners, consultants, landscape architects, and sub-trades.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in ICI construction in a management or supervisory role.
  • A technical diploma (e.g., C.E.T) or undergraduate degree (B. Eng, P. Eng, Architecture, etc.) in a related field.
  • Experience acting as a lead in Construction Management and/or Design Build contracts.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and management skills.
  • Proven time management, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office and its applications.
  • Knowledge of Maestro would be an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • A proven track record of managing concurrent projects valued at over $10 million.
  • Additional health and safety training desirable.

Rutherford Contracting Ltd. is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
