About the Role
As a Unit Clerk in the Emergency Department, you play a vital part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and Alberta Health Services (AHS) policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients, and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Additionally, you will perform various administrative tasks such as reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients, and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders, and scheduling patient tests and/or treatments.

What We Are Looking For
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is required. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program is also necessary. You should have graduated from an approved Medical Office Assistant (MOA) or Hospital Unit Clerk course. Proficiency in medical terminology is essential. A minimum of 2 years of acute hospital experience is required. Demonstrated high functioning time management skills, ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment, effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal, and written means, and proficiency in computer skills - knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications are also necessary.

We prefer candidates with previous experience in the Emergency Department. Familiarity with applications such as Connect Care, Netcare, iECG, REPAC, iRequest, eFacilities, and Siren is an asset. Previous experience with staffing liaison responsibilities is also beneficial.
