About the Opportunity:
The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the development and delivery of mental health professional development initiatives and programs for faculty and academic staff at the Faculty of Arts and Science.
The successful candidate will have a leadership role in building the Division's capacity to identify and support faculty and academic staff in crisis and for ensuring comprehensive coordination, development and implementation of high-risk, safety, crisis and issues response. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the offices of Campus Safety, Human Resources, Labour Relations, Student Affairs and other central University offices, as well as senior leadership in the academic and administrative units and colleges of the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver mental health professional development initiatives and programs for faculty and academic staff.
- Lead the development of the Division's capacity to identify and support faculty and academic staff in crisis.
- Ensure comprehensive coordination, development and implementation of high-risk, safety, crisis and issues response.
- Work collaboratively with various University offices and senior leadership.
Requirements:
- Graduate degree in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, public health) or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 6-7 years relevant experience in a university, public sector, or research-intensive setting leading professional development programming.
- Strong familiarity, understanding and experience in working with individuals with mental health issues and illnesses.
- Registered Social Worker in good standing with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with relevant Ontario and Canadian statutes, including the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles.
- Exercises sound judgement while balancing crisis and issues management response with an awareness of institutional liability.
