IPAC Quality Improvement Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled IPAC Quality Improvement Health Science Professional to join our team at Island Health. The successful candidate will have a strong background in health science and experience in infection prevention and control.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance infection prevention and control practices
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and address infection control concerns
• Analyze data and evaluate the effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control
• Provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection prevention and control practices
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant health science discipline
• Three years' recent related acute care clinical experience
• Demonstrated experience working directly with infection control processes and policies
• Knowledge of the interrelationships between Acute, Long-Term Care, Community Health and Public Health Resources in the health delivery system
• Strong working knowledge of program development and implementation and performance measures
• Certificate of successful completion from an IPAC Canada-endorsed infection control course or evidence of Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced communication, writing, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Detailed knowledge and demonstrated success with project management methodologies
• Proven ability to track, coordinate and address issues as they affect proposed action plans
• Proven ability to write, analyze and edit project plans and proposals with accuracy and consistency
• Comprehensive knowledge of current clinical practices and methodologies
• Ability to critique, organize and analyze information
• Demonstrated ability to effectively introduce, implement, and evaluate new policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to organize and prioritize work
• Ability to operate related equipment, including computer software applications
• Conflict management skills
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
