Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Data Platform Specialist to join our team at Tower Research Capital in Downtown Montreal. This is a challenging role that requires expertise in diagnosing and resolving production issues promptly.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain and support next-generation reference data platforms at Tower, ensuring smooth operations and efficient performance.
  2. Collaborate with trade support and developers across multiple regions to resolve production issues, leveraging strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  3. Interact with trading teams and users to handle and troubleshoot issues related to market data changes and generated reports.
  4. Analyze production issues and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence, utilizing knowledge of electronic trading and financial instruments.
  5. Document production issues and interventions, maintaining accurate records for future reference.
  6. Log incident tickets and participate in regular incident review meetings to ensure continuous improvement.
  7. Support new execution venues, trading products, and data vendors, adapting to changing market conditions.
  8. Take end-to-end ownership of development, testing, release, and support processes for data platforms.
  9. Validate market data changes and modify generated reports as necessary, working closely with stakeholders.
  10. Maintain and monitor job schedulers and custom alerting platforms to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
  1. 4-8 years of experience in a fast-paced environment with expertise in diagnosing and resolving production issues promptly.
  2. At least 1-2 years of experience with enterprise applications written in Java or Python.
  3. At least 1-2 years of experience with SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostGres) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases.
  4. Comfortable working in a UNIX environment with strong shell scripting abilities.
  5. Experience with job schedulers and DAGs creation is a plus.
  6. Experience with Security Masters, Reference Data, or Market Data infrastructure.
  7. Good understanding of electronic trading and/or financial instruments, including equities, commodities, credit, interest rates, foreign exchange, cryptocurrencies, futures, forwards, and options.
  8. Exposure to an Agile development environment, with experience using JIRA and test-driven development.
  9. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
