Prairie Sky School Inc. is seeking a reliable and organized Supportive Education Assistant to join our team.

Job Summary

This permanent role involves providing educational support to students, primarily in an urban setting. As a Supportive Education Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other staff members to ensure students receive the necessary assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany students during school and extracurricular activities, fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Assist students individually or in small groups with assignments and reinforce learning concepts under teacher supervision.
  • Perform various duties as assigned by the school principal, prioritizing student needs.
  • Supervise students during school and extracurricular activities, maintaining a watchful eye on their well-being.
  • Monitor students during recess and lunch hour, ensuring their safety and happiness.
  • Facilitate the integration of students into the classroom and school setting, promoting socialization and teamwork.
  • Assist with classroom inventory, maintaining a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Regularly monitor and report student progress to the classroom teacher, highlighting areas of improvement.
Requirements
  • A college diploma, CEGEP, or non-university certificate/diploma from a 1-2 year program.
  • At least 1 month but less than 7 months of experience in a similar field.
  • Certifications in Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Training, CPR, and Vulnerable Sector Check are essential.
  • Familiarity with special needs children, particularly those with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ADD, and Learning Disabilities.
